Walt Disney World is the epicenter of Florida tourism and is home to 81 holes of golf.
Golf has been around at Disney World since the beginning. Palm course and Disney's Magnolia course opened with the Magic Kingdom in 1971 and since then, four other courses have been added while one, Eagle Pines, recently closed for a new Four Seasons Resort.
The Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista courses are all classic Florida designs by architect Joe Lee but vary greatly visually. Tom Fazio added Osprey Ridge the 1990s and is a completely different experience, secluded from all the Disney action.
Each of the Disney golf courses have been renovated in the last several years, installing new TifEagle greens. As a result, each run fast and smooth. The Palm and Magnolia play host to the PGA Tour's Children's Miracle Classic presented by Wal-Mart during the Fall Series. Scores are often very low, thanks to the golf courses' mostly flat greens that yield plenty of long birdie putts.
At the same facility as the Palm and Magnolia is Disney's nine-hole executive course, Oak Trail, which is walking only and a good option for children and families.
