Alaqua Country Club

About
Alaqua Country Club was designed by golf legend Gary Player and opened in 1988. Player put his personal stamp on the private 18-hole golf course, with its elevated tees and other features that make it playable for his level of golfer as well as high handicappers.
Alaqua Country Club leads off with a 501-yard par-5 hole, a picturesque tee shot from an elevated tee. There is water on the left all the way to the green and a wooded area on the right. The fairway narrows the last 50 yards to the green.
The golf course measures 6,662 yards from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 72.3, and it has a slope rating of 129 on Bermuda grass

This is what a private club should be
Being a new member of this club and having memberships at other courses, this is what a private club should be. Members and guests have the luxury of private carts for each player and there is no waiting on this course. We finished our 18 holes in just under 3 hours. Renovated greens are rolling on the average of 11 on the stimpmeter and course always in great shape. Very tight golf course with fairly small greens. A Gary Player Signature Design course has all the characteristics of his other golf courses as driving the ball is at a premium. Fairly short course so if you get it on the fairway, you will score well. Fast becoming my favorite club in Central Orlando.
Course is now private
I love playing this course, it is always in excellent condition and has lots of wild life.
Unfortunately it is now private and no longer available to the public.
good course
new greens coming along nicely, fairways smooth as always
All you want for golf
Really pleased to find a golf coarse that let's you score but puts you to a real challenge of the game...lots of water ( island green ) and sand traps and some dog legs...a great , fun , pleasure to play....thanks..
Fun layout, but wouldnt pay full price
Got a hot deal and it was worth the money, but they had just oppened the greens from temporary greens and I truthfully could not tell what they did to the real ones. There is no way this course should be priced over $20 and if you pay more than that you are waisting your money.
Alaqua
The course was advertised as being renovated and temporary greens in use. However, the temporary greens were located at the end of the fairways and merely were fairway grass cut short - the greens were very rough. Further, there were no signs of renovation. It appeared as if they course was allowed to fall into serious disrepair; wooden stairs to many of the elevated tee boxes had rotted steps and the wooden bridges for cart paths were deteriorated. Overall conditions (poor at best) were surprising in light of the magnificent homes that are situated on the golf course.
Could be good
All the greens are being remade right now. So its cheap, but you have to putt on fairway.s Once its done it should be an amazing course. But, till then maybe play somewhere else.
Wait for the Greens to Recover
Played on 7/5 and didn't read the fine print that the greens are under repair and we would be using very poor temporary greens. Hold off until they get the place in shape. Seems neglected since the last time I played here. Still a nice layout with some demanding shots as it plays longer than the card says. Great community! Saw 7 deer that are so friendly they walk up to you!
Course Under Repair
We did not notices that the course had temporary greens on golfnow. When we looked up the address on the course site we saw the notices and did not even bother showing up for the tee time.
Renovating
Wait until after august because they are redoing the greens. All temporary greens
Temporary greens except for hole # 9
Don't bring your putter. Automatic 2 putt rule works well and is all you can do on the greens.(temp). One par 3(#4) is completely closed -- no tee box or green.
The course is great for testing your woods and irons for accuracy -- you need prcision on this course.
Tee boxes and fairway are nice and green -- for me this is at a greatly reduced pric$ worth the chance to practice your shotmaking.
The course will excellent when all greens are ready to use .
The course is good for now all greens are being redone , playing in temporary greens are not to much fun , but it's close to my house definitely I will go back and recommended to other friends.
Course has a great layout but is under renovations.
The course is undergoing renovations and all but one green was using a temporary green. I think they could have put more effort into the temp greens, as they were not in any shape to putt on. One par three hole was completely closed, so we played 17 holes. We liked the course but no mention was made of the renovations until the end of the booking process. The value was good but we won't return until renovations are complete.
Looking forward to the renovations
I went to the course knowing that there was a course alert so, I expected to play under perfect conditions. Most of the greens are being redone so that meant playing on temporary greens. Overall, the course is in pretty good shape. The fairways roll true and have been kept up. The greens are going to be awesome once they are completed. For $9.00, you still can't beat the deal if you are looking to work on your drives and intermediate iron game.
great value
I knew they were re doing all of their greens but it was still a great day. So much wildlife to see .
rough shape right now,but have always liked this course . i love the layout
Use to be a great course. The greens aren't in good shape I understand they are doing some reconfiguring of some of holes. I would like to see course when its done.I will definitely give them another chance when its done.
Alaqua
Course was supposed to have greens under repair and alternative greens. They did not have alternative greens, instead the regular greens were in play after 4 rounds of roundup plus aeration. The staff was invisible and the play was slow. Never seen a starter, ranger or cart attendant. Gary Player designed the course and if the place was better attended to it could be an excellent course. Stay away for now, give it a year!
great course
Very nice course. They where working on the greens but still very well maintained course. Fun to play
Tough course with concrete greens
This is an interesting layout. The fairways are in excellent shape while the greens are in poor shape with hard dirt. Almost like putting on concrete. For as nice as the neighborhood it's in , the course needs some work.
Outstanding Golf Course
Lot's of interesting holes. Some with water. Perfect fairways! Greens are normally smooth and fast.
